Department of Flora, Vegetation and Conservation

 The main activities of the department.
The strategic direction of the work of the department of flora, vegetation and the reserve business of the Nikitsky Botanical Garden is the National Scientific Center, a comprehensive study of the current state of landscape biodiversity in the south of Ukraine to assess and conserve the gene pool, to search for and attract useful biota species and optimize ecosystems.

    In the process of its implementation, the following issues are addressed:
1. Study of flora and vegetation of natural ecosystems and agrolandscapes of steppe and mountainous parts of the Crimean peninsula.
2. Study of flora and vegetation of marine areas and coastal water bodies of marine origin in the Azov-Black Sea region.
3. Identification of habitats and clarification of areas of rare, endemic and relict flora of the Crimea, Development of scientifically grounded recommendations on their protection and increase in the number. 
4. An estimation of modern stocks of economic-valuable (medicinal, technical, etc.) kinds of flora of Crimea; Development of directions for the optimal use of natural and resource potential of agroecosystems and natural ecosystems in the Crimea.
5. Identification of environmental factors in the environment that determine the structure of communities and the level of biological diversity.
6. Bioindication and prediction of natural and anthropogenically conditioned processes, phytorectivation of disturbed territories and objects.
7.
